Changes to Donation Tax Credit

The Government announced several changes to New Zealand's donation tax credit system as part of Budget 2026.

  1. Donations are limited to $100,000 a year per tax payer

  2. Donation credits could be claimed through the year

  3. Donor will be able to donate their tax credits to charities.

Effective from donations made on or after 1 April 2027
